Great advise Marion! To add another remedy; when I was back in the US recently, I found a tea by Traditional Medicinals called Gypsy Cold Care. You can learn more at their website: www.TraditionalMedicinals.com

and...if I EVER wake up looking like the pic, perhaps I'll 'hit the road' to seek my fame & fortune!

    Peace y'all! xx

When i was diagnosed with type two diabetes we took it seriously and went the whole way and now grow much of our own food, bake our own bread (bought has so much sugar!) and look at every ingredient of everything that goes into making our food...which we cook from raw ingredients...some of which we eat raw...and i have never been healthier with good numbers on my twice daily blood monitoring...the moral of this tale is that i should have adopted this diet years ago...so if you want to feel great and eat well...pretend to be diabetic (if you are not one already) My wife who is not a diabetic has really benefited from it all...as she lives the same way...of course not smoking and drinking alcohol is an essential part of this as is the drinking of green tea (no milk...it ruins it)...just some scattered thoughts from my scatterbrain of ideas.

I am inclined to follow the wisdom of holistic medicine as much as possible but I keep up a relationship with my primary care physician so I get my annual flu shot occasionally coming in contact with school children and people in a nursing home. I had been free from flues and bad colds about ten years but I had considerable stress this spring because of having to move out of an apartment where they were getting to act very peculiar and also getting up and down a slope to the house was very hazardous where I had injured myself. So I had two very bad colds late spring about 4 weeks apart, seemingly a new species that was going around. I am relating this because I think stress is a precipitating factor. The cousin whom I mentioned living in Bishop Ca. has been free from colds or flu. I believe the desert climate and fresh air are a great help, though some people complain of allergy.

Another thought, Senator Kennedy's passing may bring a consolatory and consolidating effect to the battle for Health Care for all. We can hope that those senators inclined toward a negative hard line may be moved to honor his memory by agreeing to participate in a truly bi-partisan manner. [for myself, bi-partisanship cooperation has become an oxymoron] My sincerest hope is that an atmosphere supporting an honest pursuance for success to this issue may experience a rebirth.

    Beautifully laid out site. Impressive!
I so agree with today's blog...Why aren't there more reports of the real issue instead of so much media about the violence...Well Said.

Good stuff, a change, need to finish watching. I was watching MSNBC running McCain's town hall, they're getting somewhat smoother in their propaganda spew. Still noxious stuff. I watch what I can stomach because I feel it is important to know your opponent (enemy).

It continues to amaze me that people seem to consciously choose to be so short-sighted and small minded. Sorry, I should have focused on the positives of Rep. Waters meeting. (going to go finish)

Thank you so much Marion for the beautiful little story regarding hairbraiding and love within African-American culture.
As to the Health Reform issue and "rushing" [!] all I can say is that I haven't had ANY health coverage since Spring of 2007 and I don't see any politicans "rushing" to help me out! I'll be 62 on Sept 8th and I worked so hard to recover from being a violent-crime victim - years of painful physical-rehab/therapy - painful tests and discouraging diagnoses - and I chose to fight against the "standard medicine" Big Pharma dogma & use holistic/acupuncture/exercise/yoga/vegan-diet/authentic living as primary care, vs. the opiate/opiods and passivity that the medical System was trying to foist onto me. My reward for regardining full mobility and managing pain without drugs? LOVING MY HEALTH COVERAGE. I worked like a mule to help get President Obama elected, for many reasons, but one of the main reasons was Obama's pledge to bring in full/universal health coverage with a PUBLIC OPTION. Now we see rightwing big-biz-interests hiring black-shirt/fascist thugs to break up health-reform public meetings - just like Mussolini's and Hitler's thugs did to brutally repress progressives back in their Nazi era. Guess what? FASCISM IS ALIVE AND WELL, AND MAKING ALL THE REST OF US SICKER AND SICKER, HERE IN THE USA!
Stand up to stupid, greedy, disgusting, selfish and UNHEALTHY fascistic morons and eejits - STAND UP FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH, READERS! YOUR OWN LIVES ARE AT STAKE!

Your feedback is very much appreciated, Alice. It helps to know what viewers like. You've gone through quite an ordeal without health coverage and I'm sure you worry daily that something may go wrong. The stress alone is debilitating. I admire you for actively taking charge of your health and seeking out alternative methods. This has probably lengthened your life. This is the route I chose too and it feels good to be medication-free.

Good for you for supporting Obama and helping him get elected. I believe you will be rewarded for this, even those who did not support him will benefit. Obama seems confident we will have health care reform by the end of the year. Because he initially wanted Single Payer, I am sure we will get some form of HR 676 and the public option as a choice. However it turns out, it will be better than what we have now. Marion

Brilliant start! Very moving - so true: NOT TO WAIT, period - not for 2012, or for tomorrow - but transform yourself NOW. For starters: cut down and then cut out meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy. End factory "farming" via caged, tortured, maimed and murdered terrified and toxified animals; support Farm Sanctuaries and fight for animal rights. Stand up for the innocent and stand up to the violent hypocrites - do not wait for others to do so. Stand up to hatred and bigotry - stand with us LGBTs and other demonized/marginalized peoples. Fight for freedom for political prisoners - free Leonard Peltier - JOIN THE FIGHT FOR LOVE AND JUSTICE! MITAKUYE OYASON - WE ARE ALL RELATED!! PUT PRAYERS INTO ACTION!!!!!
